Prior to its current location, the Tallmadge Branch Library opened in a storefront in 1961 and moved into an 8,700-square-foot building located at 32 South Ave in 1977. This building was owned by the city and built for library purposes with funds from the city income tax. On Oct. 2, 2000, the Tallmadge Branch Library opened at 90 Community Road next to the Tallmadge Community Center.
The library is open six days a week to meet the public’s needs for education, information and recreation. Current library statistics show that the Tallmadge Branch circulated 247,114 items in 2011. The library’s friendly, skilled staff includes Branch Manager and Young Adult Librarian, Adult Services Librarian, Children’s Librarian, 4 Public Service Assistants, and many Student Pages.
The library holdings include the Frank E. Lawrence History of Tallmadge Collection, which is also available online.
